Edge Smoothness

1. Edge Smoothness

This slider determines how Sagelight sees edge details.  This can be very useful in making elements sharper or smoother without affecting the noise reduction or fine details strength, without re-introducing noise with smaller values.

Higher values make details smoother, where lower details leave sharper details.

This is different from the Fine Details Slider, and the Fine Details Slider only applies a "strength" to the fine detail noise, where the Edge Smoothness slider determines how the edges are treated.

Sharper Details

2. Sharper Details

By default, Sagelight tends to smooth the details slightly.  This allows for better blending of the result.  In some cases, where you are specifically trying to keep edges pure, selecting this option can help keep details sharp.  Also see "Avoid Edges" Edge Algorithm mode.

Edge Algorithm

3. Edge Algorithm

These options determine on how Sagelight determines how to approach edges and sharp details.

Smooth

This treats edges near details as very smooth areas.  This can cause some blurring on the image, but can be compensated for with the Restore Details/Edge Controls Window.

The Smooth option can be useful with very noisy pictures, keeping edge details sharp while reducing noise near the edges themselves.

Normal

This is the default mode.  This tends to deliver sharp results without hurting edges.

Avoid Edges

This is a more advanced mode, and can help with reducing significant noise while keeping edges pure.  When first selecting this switch, the image may be come noisy around the edges.  Use the Fine Details Slider and Noise Reduction Strength sliders to compensate.

This mode allows you to use a much larger strength with the Noise Reduction Strength slider without sacrificing details.
