search oddity

Postby theMezz on Sat Apr 03, 2010 8:03 pm

Discussion Board is great, but search is a little strange
On a search for "remove noise" I get this

The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: noise remove.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards.

How else do we search for "remove noise" ??

Nice, huh? I can't figure it out, either! I'm using phpbb, which seems nice -- especially since it's free. But that one, I've been trying to figure it out, too. Maybe someone with better knowledge of Phpbb can tell us how to work the search feature?

I used to run phpBB too
I thought their was an option in admin to rebuild the search index...

It's been a while, but I am pretty sure it's in there

So, that's me who's supposed to do that? ha.

I looked into it, and I didn't find anything about rebuilding the search index. But, what did find was that some components need SQl 3.1+ to work. I've contacted my server company about this a while back, and they need to move me to a new server in order to do this. They've admitted they just don't want to fool around with the computer that is currently my server, and want to just copy everything to a new server. I guess I should do that, since I wanted to run Wordpress as well, and couldn't due to the same reason.

Do you remember where the option was?
